Loot River was one of the most anticipated releases before being officially released on May 4. Since then, the game didn’t meet players’ expectations, garnering a “Mixed” reaction on Steam with only 69% of the reviews being positive while also gathering a 73 metascore on Metacritic. Straka Studios has admitted to the game’s rocky start and has committed to improving the game moving forward.
In an article posted on Loot River’s Steam Page, Straka has iterated how community support helped them fix the game’s problems at launch en route to releasing 10 patch updates in a span of three weeks. Since then, the majority of the reviews have been positive. “Your expressions of support are the single most important thing keeping us motivated through this stressful and not so fun time.”, said Miro of Straka Studios.
In these 10 patch updates, over 70 issues were addressed which included improvements for controls and general movement, buffs to parrying and dashing, balance updates, combat pacing, and various crash fixes, bug fixes, and stability improvements.
“These bigger updates might take a while longer, we’re a tiny team and still working hard on squashing bugs and balancing. Rest assured though that we’re excited and keen to make Loot River as good as it can be.”, said Miro.
